Ian Moore’s frangipani is composed solely of horizontal and vertical planes. For my concept I want to challenge this idea and create a clean grid system that follows unordered diagonal lines. The grid will create an outer shell for the building. The other idea for my concept is the movement of water. The structure is situated on the coast of Sydney and water is a major factor in the designing of the building. I want to create an organic shape symbolising water movement that encloses the building and plays with the idea of ‘The Grid’. I also want to re-interpret Ian Moore's Architecture and create a public space using his clean geometric shapes and design elements. As Frangipani is situated right by Bondi Beach i want to create my re-interpretation directly onto the beach as a public area for everyone to use reversing the space from private to public.
